'' I don't do fashion, I am fashion.'' - Coco Chanel

From a very young age,the fashion world has always fascinated me. From the swinging 60's to the ever controversial punk era, nearly every trend has inspired me in different ways as it has made me change the way I am and my outlook on life, fashion shapes who you are. Personally, I use fashion to express myself and what I’m all about, I would describe my own fashion sense as daring, controversial and current.
Studying fashion and textiles for nearly 4 years has made me open my eyes to the different careers and aspects of fashion and the opportunities that come with the course. Being from a small town, also the home town of an inspirational fashion designer, I know that there is so much more out there to discover and so much more opportunities that I could take and explore.
The work that I have submitted includes samples from my AS and my current A level portfolio. they include some samples of the research and investigation process such as the mood board and previous designer research. I have a sample of initial sketching I have processed and I also have fashion designs that I have drawn out. Other images I have submitted include garments that I have manufactured, modelled and photographed myself.

GCSE garment.

This is a garment I made for my GCSE project, the theme was Pop-Art. The garment is made from blue satin and also has boning in the top of the garment. I also have sewn target button embellishments on the front. There is also a large zip at the back. This dress was made by sewing machine.

Punk Garments.

This is the garment I designed and manufactured for my AS project. I used tartan material for the trousers and cotton for the vest. The vest has been cut in three sections on the back and has also been cut at the shoulders and sides. The shoulders and sides of the vest have been re-attached using safety pins to make the vest more interesting and to represent the punk era and its association with D.I.Y clothing. The trousers were manufactured by sewing machine and they also have a zip and safety pin. The trousers are also lined with nylon lining.

Punk Design Board.

This is a design board from my AS project. I have designed a range of garments on this page which include punk themed trousers, shorts, hot-pants and skinny jeans made from tartan and black cotton t-shirts made from cotton. Material on this page include tartan and cotton.

Punk Introduction And Design Brief.

This board was the first of my AS project. It involves an introduction into my punk project and also a design brief on what I intend to be doing. Images I have used are taken from the internet and magazines.

Punk Sketch Book.

This is a page from my AS level sketch book. I have cut out images of punk royalty Sid and Nancy. I have sketched different images on the other images to make the page more original and interesting. I have also included quotes and lyrics from the punk era.

Initial Sketches.

This is a page from my current A level portfolio. I have produced a number of sketches relating to my 60's theme and have included sketches of fashion, make up and icons from the mod era.

Designer Board.

This is my designer research on Vivienne Westwood. I found out a lot about her during the research process and I also believe that she was most responsible for creating punk. Material on this page includes tulle and I have also added safety pins.

60's Mod Sketch Book.

This is a double page from my current A level sketch book. It includes a large image of 60's icon Twiggy with Mod targets covering her eyes, on this page I have also explained what a mod is. On the next page is a collage of 60's icons, 60's films and original mods from the 60's.

60's Mod Mood Board.

This is a mood board from my current A level project. I have used images using vintage magazines and the internet, I have also added swatches of material such as nylon and cotton.

Punk Mood Board.
